How Do You Know If You Can Trust That Online Date Of Yours
There have been a lot of stories recently about women being seriously conned by their online dates, their supposedly dream men. They think they are going to be wined and dined by a handsome, charming man, building towards a fantastic future and instead find themselves seriously out of pocket.
Only this week a court how a group of Match.com users were allegedly conned out of over £200,000 by a gang pretending to be attractive and elligable middle-aged men. Sadly, this type of fruad is becoming ever more common, especially since more and more women are taking to the internet to find love.
There is certainly nothing wrong with internet dating – it is a great way to meet plenty of new and interesting people, and potential partners. But, you do need to exercise a level of caution, as some suitors may not be exactly who they say they are. So what are the warning signs that lover boy cannot be trusted?
- Don’t Call Me Baby – Within a few messages to one another he is already sending you romantic sentiments and callin you ‘his baby’, alarm bells should be ringing. It doesn’t mean love at first sight, it means that they are after something and I’m guessing it’s not a long-lasting, meaningful relationship. You don’t have a real connection and you should move on now, before you get sucked in any further. And just so you know, he is proabably calling you baby, just in case he gets your name mixed up with one of the many other women he is saying the same thing to.
- Professional Photoshoot – I’m not saying that a gorgeous man is not going to be interested in you, but if his profile picture looks like a model’s professional photoshoot, then it probably is. They have just stolen a picture from the internet and claimed it is them. The best way to determine if the picture is fake is to do a Google image search, and if the picture is nottheirs then run a mile.
- Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems – On many dating sites there is a section where you can put your annual earnings – why this is an option, I don’t know, but you should probably avoid anyone who fills it in. They either are extremely arrogant, put way to much importance on money, or are big fat liars, especially if they claim to earn over six figures. If you do go on a date with one of these guys, don’t be surprised if they claim their Armani suit is at the dry cleaners an their wallet is in the pocket, oh an they got the bus there because their Jag is in the shop.
- He Doesn’t Appear To Own A Shirt – In every picture they are posing topless, even if the occasion doesn’t really call for it. At a wedding, eating at a restaurant, walking down the street, they are all opportunities to whip their top off and pose for pictures. Is that level of arrogance really attractive, no it is not. Plus if they are willing to show so much flesh in the public domain, what will they be wlling to share with you completely unsolicitated.
Just take care ladies when dating online, don’t fall head over heels within a few messages and think with your head instead of your lonely heart. And if your online love asks you for money soon after meeting, tell him to do one and report him to the dating site administrators.
