Does Biology Hold The Key To Romantic Success? DNA Dating May Have The Answer
There are a lot of unusual dating sites out there, so everyone can find the clown, spice-lover or Hobbit enthusiast of their dreams. Well now you can find a romantic match using your DNA as an indicator of who will be good for you.
The new dating site SingldOut.com sends out DNA testing kits to their users, who provide a sample of thier saliva to be sent back to a lab to test for two specific genetic markers. The first marker is for the controller gene of seratonin uptake, which has a role in how individuals respond to positive and negative emotions. The second marker relates to some of the genes involved in the immune response.
Within just a week, the results will appear on the users profile and they can compare them to the results of other users. According to Instant Chemisty, who supply the DNA testing kits, there is a strong correlation between different versions of seratonin and immune genes and long distance relationship.
Co-founder of Instant Chemistry, Ron Gonzalez , told USA Today: “With Online dating, you have socioeconomic factors fctors people try to match on – religion, how much you make. This is another layer on top of that so you can find better matches.”
However, DNA daing does not come cheap, it is around $53 a month for supscription and some scientists have questioned the actual usefulness of the Instant Chemistry method.
